This frosting is yummy & versatile. We use it to compliment many recipes.
1 1/2 tbsp. butter (or ghee) - can also use shortening
1/4 c. brown sugar, packed (potential to be corny)
1/8 tsp. non- iodized salt
1 c. powdered sugar (potential to be corny)
2 tbsp. cream or milk or alternative
1/2 tsp. pure maple syrup
1/3 c. finely chopped walnuts (optional)
Directions Heat butter, brown sugar and salt to boiling. Beat in powdered sugar alternately with cream and pure maple syrup. Mix to a good spreading consistency. Stir in walnuts. Spread icing on top of cupcake, cake or layer two thin cakes with icing between.
You can make your own powdered sugar by finely grinding regular sugar, if needed for corn-free. It will be a little bit grainy compared to store bought.
