Grape Leaves

...are a good source of vitamins C, E, A, K and B6, plus niacin, iron, fiber, riboflavin, folate, calcium, magnesium, copper and manganese. A single serving (one cup) of grape leaves, has no fat or cholesterol & is very low in sodium and sugar.
Grape leaves are anti-inflammatory, have a low glycemic load & reduce edema.
They are reported to aid in the treatment of diarrhea, heavy menstrual bleeding, uterine hemorrhage, canker sores & excess vaginal discharge.
Historically Native Americans are reported to have made grape leaves into a tea for diarrhea, hepatitis, stomach aches & pains and thrush. They used wilted grape leaves for sore breasts, rheumatism, headaches and fevers.
We’ll be enjoying homemade dolmas this weekend and many other treats, especially sorbet for the kids. Also seems like a wonderful addition to the apothecary!
