Nourishing Skin Balm

One of my first recipes, this balm is one we always have on-hand. We use it for general skin conditioning, rashes, itchiness, chapped & cracked skin and lips. Gentle enough for baby's bum, super sensitive skin & hard-core enough to heal tats, just ask my friend. She swears by it!

Yield: 12 oz

Materials

• 2 ounces beeswax

• 1 ounce jojoba oil

• 7 ounces infused olive oil (calendula & white clover)

• 1 ounce shea butter

• containers

Melt wax Melt beeswax in double-boiler or small glass measuring cup set in pan of boiling water. Beeswax is flammable and should never be placed in pot directly on flame.

Combine ingredients When wax has melted, stir in Shea butter. Then jojoba oil & infused olive oil.

Fill molds Place empty containers on top of parchment paper, pour liquid salve mixture into them and let cool overnight before closing tops. Pouring is much easier from a spouted measuring cup. Parchment will catch any drips and make clean-up much easier.

How to Infuse Olive Oil - Quick Method

Place plant or flower of choice in a metal or glass pot. Cover with an inch or two of oil.

Gently heat the flowers over low heat for 1-3 hours until the oil takes on the color & scent of flower. Turn off heat & let cool.

Once cooled, strain with cheesecloth into glass jar. Keeping oil refrigerated will lengthen shelf-life.

Benefits of Calendula - helps with cuts, scrapes, bruises, and insect bites. It also helps with skin sores/irritations, eczema, acne and nourishing skin. In addition, it acts as an anti-fungal agent, which helps with things like; Athlete’s Foot, Ringworm and Candida.

Benefits of Clover - helps with skin conditions like wounds, sores and boils.
